Steel Fabrication Tenders

The closing date for tender submissions is as per system generated. Tenderers must ensure that tenders are uploaded timeously onto the system. If a tender is late, it will not be accepted for consideration.

Transnet reserves the right to award the business to the highest scoring tenderers unless objective criteria justify the award to another tenderer. The evaluation is based on functionality, price, and preference points (80/20 system).

Tenderers must be registered with CIDB with a grading of 6sq or higher. Professional registration certificates for Construction Project Manager and Safety Officer are mandatory. Joint ventures are eligible if all members are CIDB registered and meet specific grading requirements.

Specific complaints relating to this RFP should be formally submitted by emailing to groupscmcomplaints@transnet. net.

Tenderers may be disqualified if they submit a bid through another bidder's company profile, fail to meet eligibility criteria, submit late tenders, or are found to be in collusion.

The closing date for bid submissions is May 22, 2026, at 12:00 PM. Bidders are advised to submit their electronic bid submissions at least a day before the closing date to prevent issues.

Transnet will utilise a methodology and criteria including administrative responsiveness, substantive responsiveness, minimum technical thresholds (80 points), and final weighted scoring based on price (80 points) and specific goals (20 points).

The supplier must be registered with CIDB for structural steel work with a minimum grading of 3SL and provide proof of experience in major steel structural work. They must also provide proof that they will use coded welders by providing 2 coded welder performance qualification certificates.

A compulsory pre-proposal site meeting will be conducted on Wednesday, May 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Transnet Port Terminal Harbour Umhlathuze Building.

Communication specific queries relating to this RFQ should be submitted onto the system and to ***@***. *. * before 14:00 on May 20, 2026.

Respondents failing to attend the compulsory RFQ briefing will be disqualified. Failure to provide mandatory returnable documents at the closing date and time will result in disqualification. Business may not be awarded to a respondent who has failed to register on the CSD.
